We encountered two main set backs as we entered the Fall of 2004. Primarily our intention of using the CHIPCON RF development kit from the previous design team was dashed and our original advisor [Dr. Lee] had to leave the university because of family issues.

With the departure of our original advisor, went our CHIPCON RF development kit, effectively placing our teams progress on hold. Losing the kit meant that we had lost all the progress made by both ourselves and the previous design team. We would now have to concieve of a new way to solve our assignment. Our solution was to purchase an RF development kit from a company called Radiotronix. All our original intentions and goals still remain true, only now the pressure has increased as we face the same amount of work, with only half the time. Welcome to our home page. Our assignment is to improve upon the design created by the wireless sensor team of the fall 2003 through spring 2004 senior design period. Our approach will NOT use the current approach, an implementation of Tiny OS. Instead, we are attempting to develop a network stack similar to that of the ZigBee standard.

As a 'proof of concept' we currently plan on giving our WSN a temporary application of a Wireless Home Security System. Keep in mind, our focus will be improving how the WSN organizes itself when it's sensor nodes are distributed at random and NOT the actual security system.
