Our Project

The data acquisition (DAQ) processor is a complete data acquisition system that occupies one PCI expansion slot in a PC.  It is an analog to digital (A/D) converter joined with an interface to allow personal computers to control its actions. These processors are suitable for a wide range of applications in laboratory and industrial settings.  They are used to develop multi-channel A/D conversion systems for applications with multiple sensors.  It can also capture the digital output information from the converter.  The power required for the components of a DAQ card is obtained directly from the personal computer’s bus.

Today there is a need for more computers in medical and industrial labs that use a DAQ card to convert the computer into an oscilloscope.  This is because it is a relatively cheap and efficient way of gathering data directly onto the computer screen.  Other applications that use a DAQ card are:
  - Automotive Testing
  - Cable Testing
  - Transient Signal Measurement
  - Laboratory Automation
  - Biotech Measurement

We will need to design the DAQ card to function as a type of oscilloscope with a user interface on a PC.  It will be designed to fit into a PCI slot on a PC with the following desired components:
  - One channel input
  - A/D converter
  - External trigger
  - On-board Memory
