Photoacoustic Imaging System

Our senior design project encompasses design and test of a a Non-Invasive Photoacoustic Imaging System. The photoacoustic imaging system is an early cancer detection system that combines the high resolution and high contrast benefits of ultrasonic imaging and optical imaging respectively. This system has negligible harmful effects on the body and it is primarily used to detect malignant tumors. We will be working on a low-frequency system that can be used to detect larger tumors than similar high-frequency systems are designed to detect.
