Gems Sensors requires a test station for various flow-meters to replace their current setup. The current test station is a manual, open loop system. Since the test station is an open loop system and has no automation, an employee must be present at all times. The current test setup controls the water flow with manual valves which have to be adjusted precisely to obtain a certain water flow.  Data is recorded manually which is tedious and time consuming to the tester.   The current test setup is very sensitive to the activities that occur within the company’s water supply since the water running through the test setup is connected to this water supply.  At any moment the water pressure initially flowing to the setup can change and if anything connected to the water supply is running, then the flow rate in the test setup decreases as less water is flowing to it.  Temperature and other water characteristics cannot be regulated in the setup’s current state.  Also, there are no filters in the system so contaminants from the water supply as well as the piping of the setup may damage the flow meter being tested.
