Connecticut Technology Council’s 15th annual Women of Innovation Awards will honor women of all ages who are making their mark in a dozen different fields.

Julia Hoffman is passionate about science and engineering. She runs several STEM clubs and serves as co-captain of the robotics team, where she mentors junior team members in the skills of 3D design and fabrication. Julia also coaches a robotics team at a local middle school and tutors students in science and math. She plans to pursue an engineering degree, and is exploring careers in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or bioengineering.

Yan Li has made meaningful contributions to Connecticut’s energy landscape by inventing new technologies that help integrate distributed energy resources for power grids and protect energy infrastructures from cyber-physical attacks. She provides mentorship for UConn students and serves as an advisor, Ph.D. student advisor, or supervisor for ECE senior design teams and undergraduate students working on a variety of innovative projects. Yan contributed to industry publications, including three 3 patents for the microgrid stability.
