Robotics

Robotics develops machines that replicate human actions. Robots can be designed to take actions such as lifting or walking, as well as other intelligent tasks such as speech recognition. These machines can assist humans, for example in performing actions dangerous to humans, or in environments dangerous to humans.

Some specific research areas in this field include:

  • Autonomous systems and cooperation among networked autonomous systems
  • Manufacturing robotics
  • Estimation and controls, vision based controls
  • Machine learning and optimization of decision making in robots, distributed intelligent systems
